The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with the Croatian Mint, has issued a one-ounce gold coin<\/strong> (31.103 grams) with a nominal value of 100 euros<\/strong>, the first in the “The Croatian Ships” series. This coin, dedicated to the gajeta falku\u0161a<\/em><\/strong>, is made of the highest purity gold (999.9\/1000), classified as investment gold<\/strong>, and is available in a limited mintage of 150<\/span> pieces.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In honour of the maritime heritage and the preservation of the tradition of the most remote inhabited Croatian island, a gold coin has been issued that tells the story of the falku\u0161a<\/strong> \u2013legendary fishing boat from the island of Vis. This story is not just about the boat but also about collective memory, which has survived through oral tradition, preserving the soul of the island.<\/p>\n

The conceptual design by academic sculptor Jelena Mavri\u0107 Varga<\/strong><\/a> features two falku\u0161a gajetas<\/em> on the obverse, while the reverse reveals a view of the Ka\u0161tel in Komi\u017ea and the three last surviving boats of this kind, precious witnesses of Croatia\u2019s rich maritime heritage.<\/p>\n
