As part of the “Croatian Heritage\u201c series, the Croatian National Bank in collaboration with the Croatian Mint has issued a half ounce<\/strong> (15.552 grams) gold collector coin with a nominal value of 50 euro<\/strong>. The \u201c200th Anniversary of the Samobor Carnival\u201d gold coin is issued in a limited series of just 200<\/span> pieces<\/strong>. \u00a0Minted in 999.9\/1000 gold, it belongs to the investment gold<\/strong> category and comes in an elegant box with a certificate signed by the governor of the Croatian National Bank.<\/p>\n

Protected as intangible cultural heritage, the Samobor Carnival has for centuries celebrated satire, free expression and shared joy. It is a rare space where reality is viewed with distance, commented on without restraint and transformed into a witty social chronicle. At the heart of this edition is Magpie, the most recognisable figure of the Samobor Carnival, an ever-present chronicler of events and a distinctive voice of the people.<\/p>\n

The artistic design is by Karlo Gross<\/strong>, who, through a contemporary approach, shapes a story of a tradition that still has much to say today \u2013 as loud, clear and witty as it is on the streets of Samobor.<\/p>\n
