The Croatian National Bank will on 2 July 2024 release into circulation the commemorative 2-euro coin the “The Old Town of Varaždin” as part of the “Croatian cities” series with commemorative motifs that represent a renowned building in the City of Varaždin, of rich historical and cultural relevance for the Republic of Croatia, whose representation was one of the basic motifs on the reverse side of the 5-kuna banknote.
The coin will be issued in a quantity of 200,000 pieces. The design of the national side was created by Stjepan Divković, an academic sculptor. The coin has been minted by the Croatian Mint Ltd.
Interested citizens can obtain this euro coin from July 2, 2024, at the counters of commercial banks and the cash desks of the Croatian National Bank (Croatian National Bank, Jurišićeva 17, Zagreb, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM).
At the HNB cash desk, a maximum of five (5) euro coins per person can be exchanged in the first weeks after issuance to make it available to as many citizens as possible. Commercial banks are also recommended to allow exchanges of up to five (5) euro coins per person.
The Croatian Mint allows citizens to purchase the coin in blister packaging, with pre-orders available from July 2 on the Croatian Mint website, limited to a maximum of ten (10) blister packs per transaction/person. The commemorative 2 euro coins “The Old Town of Varaždin” 2024 will be delivered starting in September in accordance with the order of received orders.
