The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with the Croatian Mint, has issued a one-ounce (31.103 grams) silver coin as part of the “Croatian Innovators” series. This is a limited edition – only 1,000 pieces of the silver coin dedicated to one of the most famous Croatian inventors, Slavoljub Penkala, are available. The coin is made from exceptionally pure silver (999.9/1000) and comes in a box with a certificate of authenticity signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.

Slavoljub Penkala was one of the most versatile inventors of the early 20th century. During his career, he patented over 80 inventions, and his work and contributions to science and industry have left a lasting impact on both Croatian and world history.

The visual design of this coin is the work of artist Ilaria Longo, who created an accurate depiction of Slavoljub Penkala’s likeness. Elements on the reverse further emphasise the technical aesthetics of his inventions, paying tribute to his genius.
