In honor of Croatia’s basketball Mozart – Dražen Petrović

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Dražen Petrović’s birth, the Croatian National Bank, in cooperation with the Croatian Mint, has created a series of gold and silver collector coins “Dražen Petrović”.

On the reverse side of the coins sculptor Nikola Vudrag brings us the powerful image of a basketball going through the hoop, symbolizing Dražen’s success on the court. The obverse side captures Dražen in a basketball action shot, a scene that audiences in Croatia and around the world loved to watch.

This series features a 5 variety of collector coins: a gold coin with a nominal denomination of 200 euro, a gold coin with a nominal denomination of 100 euro, as well as silver coin with a nominal denomination of 8 euro, silver coin with a nominal denomination of 6 euro and silver coin with a nominal denomination of 4 euro. The coins have been minted by the Croatian Mint in the highest Proof quality.
The gold coin with a nominal denomination of 200 euro, weighing in total 100 grams, is issued in a limited edition of just 60 pieces.

The issue is complemented by thematic packaging designed by Dig Studio. Along with the capsule and accompanying box, buyers receive a numbered certificate and a booklet about the product.

The Croatian National Bank and the Croatian Mint would like to extend their special thanks to the Petrović family and the Dražen Petrović Foundation. With deep respect for Dražen’s legacy, the foundation granted approval for the project and provided all the necessary information and materials to bring this unique edition of numismatic coins to life, as a fitting tribute to the legendary basketball player.
