The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with the Croatian Mint, has issued the “Queen Jelena the Glorious“ silver collector coin weighing two ounce (62.207 grams). The silver collector coin, in the 6 euro denomination, has been minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and the special features of this coin are enhanced by its finishes – partial gold plating and partial ruthenium coating. Made of 999.9/1000 pure silver, it is an ideal gift for special occasions. The silver coin is issued in a limited series of 500 pieces and comes in a box with a certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.

On the obverse, the author of the design Nikola Vudrag portrays Queen Jelena, remembered in Croatian history as Jelena the Glorious — a protector of the poor, widows and orphans. Her name was preserved on fragments of a stone epitaph discovered in Solin, confirming her place within the Croatian royal heritage. The crown and garments are further accentuated with gold plating, highlighting her royal dignity and historical importance, while symbolically evoking the light she was said to bring to those under her protection.

The reverse features the Velebit degenia, a flower that grows from stone and withstands the harsh conditions of Mount Velebit. It symbolises strength, endurance and continuity — much like the memory of Queen Jelena, which has endured through the centuries.
