The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with Croatian Mint, has issued the silver coin “Vučedol Culture” as part of the “Croatian Heritage” series. The two-ounce silver coin (62.207 grams), with a face value of 6 euro, is available in a limited mintage of 200 pieces. This collector coin is minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and comes in a box with a certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.
The obverse features the motif of the Vučedol boot – a simple yet powerful symbol of everyday life, craftsmanship, and aesthetic awareness within the Vučedol community. Through this motif, the human side of one of the most advanced cultures of its time is brought to life.
The reverse presents the unfolded surface of the vessel known as “Orion”, whose ornaments and symbols are associated with astronomical observation and the recording of time. It is believed to represent one of the oldest Indo-European calendars, giving this issue additional historical and collector value.
