The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with Croatian Mint, has issued the silver coin “Vučedol Culture” as part of the “Croatian Heritage” series. The one-ounce silver coin (31.103 grams), with a face value of 4 euro, is available in a limited mintage of 1,500 pieces. This collector coin is minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and comes in a box with a certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.
The obverse features the Vučedol boot, one of the most famous finds of the Vučedol Culture. This detail symbolises a highly developed craft tradition and a strong sense of everyday life within a community that, more than five thousand years ago, shaped one of the most important chapters of European prehistory.
The reverse depicts a Vučedol vessel with four symbolic bands associated with constellations and the changing seasons. It is believed that this design represents one of the oldest Indo-European calendars. Owing to its symbolism and its connection to Croatian archaeological heritage, this coin makes a valuable gift and a lasting keepsake.
