The Croatian National Bank and the Croatian Mint are proud to announce a new coin from the series of collector coins dedicated to one of the most significant female figures of the early Croatian Middle Ages.

Continuing the “Queen Jelena the Glorious” collector issue, the Croatian National Bank, in cooperation with the Croatian Mint, is issuing the 2 ounce silver collector coin “Queen Jelena the Glorious” with a face value of 6 euro.

Queen Jelena’s name has been preserved on fragments of a funerary epitaph discovered in Solin in the late 19th century. The inscription confirmed that Jelena was the wife of King Mihajlo Krešimir II and the mother of King Stjepan Držislav, but also a ruler remembered for caring for the poor, orphans and widows. It is precisely because of this role that she became known in history as Jelena the Glorious.

The designer of the coin, Nikola Vudrag, depicted Queen Jelena alongside the motif of the Velebit degenia, a plant that grows from stone and withstands the demanding conditions of Velebit. The degenia motif further emphasises the symbolism of endurance, strength and a legacy that has lasted for more than a thousand years.

The 2 ounce silver collector coin “Queen Jelena the Glorious” is issued in a limited edition of 500 pieces. It is minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and further distinguished by partial gold plating and a ruthenium coating.

The coin comes in an elegant box with a sleeve and a commemorative booklet, accompanied by a numbered certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.

The 2 ounce silver collector coin “Queen Jelena the Glorious” will be available for purchase through the Croatian Mint’s online shop from 2 June 2026 at 9 AM.

To ensure availability for as many registered customers as possible, the maximum purchase quantity per customer is limited.
