The Croatian National Bank, in collaboration with Croatian Mint, has issued the silver coin “Neretva Boat” as part of the “Croatian Ships” series. The two-ounce silver coin (62.207 grams), with a face value of 6 euro, is available in a limited mintage of 500 pieces. This collector coin is minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality and comes in a box with a certificate signed by the Governor of the Croatian National Bank.

The author of the design, Petar Varga, depicts the Neretva boat through its bow and stern on the obverse of the coin, emphasising its characteristic form and construction. The boat’s frame is particularly highlighted as one of the most recognisable features of this traditional vessel.

The reverse of the coin depicts “parićanje”, or rowing, one of the traditional ways of navigating the Neretva boat. This method of navigation was chosen as the motif because it continues to keep the boat active today through traditional competitions such as the “Ladja Marathon”.
